Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter Holds Successful Cruisin' For Critters Motorcycle Rally Fundraiser

September 2, 2004 -- The Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter held its first ever Cruisin' for Critters Motorcycle Fundraiser on Saturday, August 28, 2004. Cyclists departed from the shelter at 409 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH and enjoyed a lunch buffet at the Village Trestle in Goffstown. The rally raised approximately $3,000 for the shelter, a 99% volunteer organization dedicated to the health and welfare of New Hampshire's homeless animals.

Many local motorcycle clubs joined in the event, including the Manchester Motorcycle Club, whose own Paul Desmaris mapped out the route. Steve and Lorraine Pasucci of the Goffstown Village Trestle donated a tremendous lunch buffet to all of the riders. Several local business added door prizes and sponsorship, including Berry Good Farm; Dean's Carpet; Fashion Bug; Food For Pets; Hampshire Fire Protection; PetCo; The Barking Dog; Cassandra Gatsas; Luther Zimmerman; M.O.S.T., Inc.; EVO Cycle; Wal-Mart; BJ's Wholesale; Blazin' Saddles Motorcycle Shop; Chez Vachon; Green Moutain Coffee; Hurt & Forbes Insurance; Irving Mainway; Motorcycles of Manchester; Manchester Care Foundation; Manchester Motorcycle Club; PerfectPatches.Com; Piccola Italia Ristorante; Ruff to Fluff; Salon Outlooks; Sol Sisters Tanning; The Village Trestle, Tri-Town Ice Arena. The rally received extra help from Jim Ringland who rode with the shelter's Laurie Plumley to help tack Cruisin' Flyers to telephone poles.

The shelter plans another road rally in 2005 and is already planning for the event. The Second Annual Rally will be open to various types of vehicles, not just motorcycles.

The Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter believes that all animals are deserving of life, respect and care. To that end, its goal is zero-population growth through spay and neuter programs and services that focus on education, medical care, fostering and adoption.
