Green Living

November 16th, 2008

Green–may be the biggest buzz word around today. I see two meanings for the word, green:

  1. supporting the ecosystem of Earth thereby keeping more green alive on this planet
  2. wealth derived from sustaining a healthy environment by eliminating waste and recycling all we possibly can

In my own home, I only print out the pages I need and keep everything else as PDF files on my computer. A great free program for converting web pages and other documents into PDF files is downloadable at
http://cutePDFwriter.com

How fortunate I feel to live in Boise, Idaho where the city pretty much recycles everything that is not organic garbage. And that can, of course, go into a compost pile.

The only lights on in my home are those in the room where I actually am.

Tell me what you and your family do to protect our Earth and its precious gifts and resources so we may all may grow and learn. Interestingly, as we cut out extraneous non-green items we wind up increasing our wealth–money-wise and well being wise.

Enjoy this glorious day!

Be well and happy. In the end, nothing else matters.

Listen to Your Own Wisdom

November 15th, 2008

People teach what they most want to learn. Well, speaking as a retired La Leche League Leader, former psychotherapist and specialized kinesiologist I can tell you for sure, in the healing realm people teach what they want to know more about so they themselves will benefit.

When I was ten I taught a kid how to swim. What is so interesting is I knew the technique to teach it but I myself have never been much of a swimmer (even though I used to do it LOTS.

More to the point, a colleague described a not so mythical service called “Therapist’s Central” as the service that brings the clients who are dealing with what each therapist most wants or needs to learn to make his own life flow. You see, to be useful the therapist must stay a step ahead of the client in dealing with his own stuff in the very same area.

You have likely heard me say or at least read my words, ”What you don’t know you don’t know runs your life.” Want to know what you don’t know you don’t know?

Simply look at your life. Look at the people in your life and their issues. Noticet how your life runs each day and where you are on your path to your dream. (Do you still have a dream?)
You don’t have to be a therapist to attract people of like mind…which means people in the same or similar place in life.

When I say teach I do not necessarily mean in the classroom, You see, when your family and friends have the same issues (known or unknown) as you, and they come to you to unload or seek advice, you respond, right?

Now here is the thing, whatever you tell that person—listen for yourself. The words you speak as an advisor are also for your own ears, own heart and own soul. Yes, you are speaking what you most want to know. Only you had no idea you wanted to know it because it was out of your awareness, i.e., what you did not know you did not know.

So pay attention to what you say out loud. Notice the words you choose to use for your friend or family member. Follow the advice you share, It didn’t come from nowhere. Your wisdom came from a deep place inside where your answers lie.

See? And you thought you were being a good friend. Well, you are being a good friend—to the other person and to yourself.

My Success Secret

November 10th, 2008

What do I do to feel successful in life? Well, I define success as feeling great and going with the flow. In other words…being happy. When I feel great life flows as if I had scripted my perfect experience. When I feel crummy or blah I notice my day does not flow. I will start to get red lights when driving and that kind of subtle alert from the Universe that I am not paying attention to my thoughts.
Ah ha! Forewarned is enough to get me to change how I feel and the thoughts running me in the moment.
When I schedule my day I stay focused and on track to reaching my happiness that day. By writing down the important tasks to do each day I actually accomplish them all–with time to spare. If I keep them in my head and do them haphazardly I sacrifice efficiency and diligence. Hmm what do you suppose I do to feel successful then?

Tell me what you do.

Savor the flavor

October 28th, 2008

Will you choose to make today plain vanilla or French Vanilla with real eggs and rich Madagascar vanilla beans swimming in organic dairy cream from stress-free cows who feast on natural pure green grass?

Or is today the time to go for that new fandangled flavor you have been drooling over but were afraid to try because your friends might tell you how cuckoo you are? What about some avocado ice cream in a cinnamon waffle cone topped with a scoop of pumpkin ice cream. Pretty and cool.

Your day goes as you choose. Which flavor will you savor now?

Goals and Affirmations

October 27th, 2008

We are taught that setting goals and stating affirmations gets us what we want in life. If all we do is write down our goals and affirmations, even if we speak them all day long—we will fail to live those dreams.

Writing and speaking are intellectual activities tantamount to wishing and hoping. Do you honestly believe the universe will bring you your hopes and desires because you tell it what you want and ask for it daily? Hard to believe–that is what most people do.

Nothing in life just comes to us. Firstly we have to believe, free from any inkling of doubt, that we deserve what we ask for. Then we go halfway to meet the Universe’s generosity. We do that by taking action.

You may recall the Biblical story of the Jews wandering in the desert praying to God for water. They prayed and they prayed. When they asked why no water came God asked, “Where are the ditches?” Ditches? If they believed the water would come then they needed a way to catch it and save it—otherwise it would run off into the ground useless to them.

We can write our goals and state our affirmations and be indignant when they fail to happen and say, ”This hokey stuff doesn’t work. ” Or we can KNOW with every cell of our being that what we request is certainly ours and we take very definite action steps to acquire it.

Those action steps come in multiple parts. As best-selling author Mike Litman says, “You don’t go from kindergarten to college. ” When we have a huge goal and break it down into manageable steps then we actually achieve our desired end. And as soon as the Universe sees that us taking action, as opposed to thinking about taking action or preparing to take action, then the Universe acts to bring our goal to us.

When writing and speaking our goals and affirmations use present tense words as if we already live in that space. State an actual date for having achieved that goal. That said, the Law Of Germination tells us that everything happens in its proper time. Our time may be different from the time the Universe sees as best for us.

Remember, the subconscious mind that runs us cannot tell the difference between reality and fantasy. Someone in physical painmay say, “I easily and comfortably do my daily routine by January 1st Day.”

Speak in the present and use positive words. The subconscious mind fails to process negatives so saying, “I do not have any pain.” gets interpreted as, “I do have any pain.”

Know you deserve the best. Ask for what yu want. And take action.
You will receive.

Life is not hard…unless you make it so

October 26th, 2008

Life was never meant to be hard.

The way we look at life determines how hard or easy each day goes for us. When we recognize and accept the fact that we determine how life looks and is for us then we see how powerfully we create our daily experiences as enjoyable or difficult.

I just spent four wonderful days with a mentor learning how to trade stocks. I had not been looking forward to those days because they came at the time my books and speaking career demanded my full-time attention.

I also was uncertain about my capability to understand the stock market well enough to make money in it.

I trusted that the Universe presented this material and opportunity at exactly the right and optimal time for me.

I chose to attend the special program. I also chose to learn the material easily and comfortably AND build the confidence I needed to make my money work for me in that arena. My results far exceeded my expectations

In fact, the Universe gifted me with a most amazing young man who made the material simple and FUN! Rather than be upset that my precious mentoring time was being used for non-course activity, I allowed myself to go with what was happening–and trusted my mentor knew what he was doing.

Remarkably, I discovered that the more fun I had outside the class (my mentor took me out sight-seeing, on his boat, up the mountain peaks–we had a great time) the easier I learned all that complicated information.

I found the messages I told myself determined my degree of success in the program. I was relaxed despite my not being able to study at night or review what I had learned each day.

Actually I was downright shocked when, during the wrap-up review, I was able to answer the questions that covered every item (and then some) I had on my original list of what I had wanted to learn.

Life is an adventure to savor in every moment.

You Gotta Be Happy First

October 25th, 2008

Most people think you have to do things and have things to be happy.

But being happy is not an end goal. Being happy is the jump off point to success.
Think about it–when you are feeling good everything seems to go your way. You call it being lucky or having a good day.

No, no, no. You created your day to be great because you were feeling great! Pay attention to how your mood always always always matches how good or how not so good your day goes.

Once you recognize the match-up of mood to success you will want to put yourself in a good space, a happy place! You will also see how easily you shift from any off-kilter mood to a balanced even joy.

Here is another reason to stay happy” whatever emotions you live in the moment distribute like”minded” peptides or chemicals through your body. When you feel happy those peptides improve your health and your immune system. Similarly, when you feel sad or upset the peptides you release lower your immunity and damage your health.

Realize you are in charge of your well being and control it with your thoughts and emotions. So be happy first. Go for it. You deserve the best!

Powerful Changes

October 23rd, 2008

Yesterday I talked about the Butterfly Effect. One miniscule change impacts the world. When you live consciously, with an awareness of every choice you make AND its effect, you notice the results of a small change.

Making a conscious step in  a new direction creates a new pathway in your brain. The more new pathways you create, the healthier your brain grows. Afterall, your brain is like a muscle–exercise builds it while a lack of exercise leads to dystrophy–death.

What change did you make yesterday? What change will you make today?

Many people pass through their lives asleep. Life passes them by. They say they wan to tchange but fail to take action OR they take action for one or two days then return to their ho hum life.

What if you had an accountability to someone outside yourself?  You can do that now at Your Accountability Service.

The Butterfly Effect in Your Life

October 22nd, 2008

You know the story–the butterfly flapping its wings in China effects the weather in the US. One tiny change in your daily routine powerfully impacts your life.

What kind of change do you want to make today? Maybe you exercise before you meditate? Maybe you turn left out of the driveway instead of right. Maybe you eat a salad for lunch instead of a sandwich. Maybe you simply put your coat on by putting you left arm into the sleeve before your right.

Do one tiny thing different each day and watch your world change because…you tell me why a tiny change can turn your life around.
